F.K.P Hommage (5)

Bugatti Rimac has unveiled the F.K.P. Hommage, the second vehicle from its Solitaire program, created as a tribute to the legendary Veyron and its visionary creator, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Karl Piëch. The project marks 20 years since the debut of the Veyron, the hyper-GT that redefined engineering limits with 1,001 hp and a top speed exceeding 400 km/h, establishing an entirely new performance category.

The original Veyron concept grew from Piëch’s long-standing vision of W-engine architecture, developed during his time within the Volkswagen Group. From VR engines through W8 and W12 configurations, this path ultimately led to the W16 layout—compact enough for all-wheel drive packaging while delivering extreme output and durability.

Veyron first appeared publicly at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show, designed by a young Jozef Kabaň under the direction of Hartmut Warkuß, introducing a radically different aesthetic to the supercar world. The F.K.P. Hommage builds on the most advanced evolution of Bugatti’s W16 platform, using the 1,600 hp engine first seen in the Chiron Super Sport, combined with upgraded cooling, larger turbochargers, and a reinforced transmission.

Design-wise, the Hommage delivers a restrained but deliberate evolution of the Veyron silhouette. It retains the rear-leaning stance and descending side lines while refining every exterior surface. The bodywork features cleaner volumes, a new three-dimensional horseshoe grille, and enlarged air intakes that emphasize both cooling efficiency and visual presence.

Wheel sizing follows a staggered setup with 21-inch rear wheels and 20-inch fronts, wrapped in the latest Michelin high-speed tires. The deep red paint is applied using a multi-layer process over an aluminum base, while selected panels expose dark-toned carbon fiber, highlighting the contrast between classic luxury and modern motorsport materials.

The interior is entirely unique among W16 models. A circular steering wheel replaces the more angular designs of recent Bugattis, while the center console is machined from solid aluminum. Custom Car Couture textiles—originally developed for the Bugatti Tourbillon—are used throughout the cabin. At the center of the dashboard sits an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon, a mechanical watch powered by the motion of the vehicle itself.

“Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Karl Piëch was a supreme engineer who always demanded that his cars represent the most advanced technology available. That is why the F.K.P. Hommage features the most powerful W16 engine, a reinforced dual-clutch transmission, and optimized aerodynamics, all wrapped in a form that directly references the Veyron,” said Frank Heyl, Design Director at Bugatti Rimac.

The F.K.P. Hommage is the second creation under the Solitaire program, Bugatti’s ultra-exclusive initiative limited to up to two bespoke vehicles per year. Each Solitaire model is developed with full technical and design freedom, focusing on individual craftsmanship while reinforcing Bugatti’s engineering heritage.

For Bugatti, this is not a retro exercise. It is a modern hypercar built on today’s most advanced W16 technology, using the Veyron not as a template, but as a reference point for what the brand considers its defining moment in modern automotive history.
